PSG has now secured the season-opening trophy on 14 separate times.
The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.
The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.
Yet, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.
In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the final seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.
In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.
Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen years.
