19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led some to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

He rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
